What is Google Adsense ?

Google Adsense is the largest  advertisement program in this world ,which is run by Google.Inc . In which the owner of website, blog , youtube channel , web application & hubpages  get huge opportunity to make money by displaying advertisement on their content ,which is managed by Google . The revenue earned from advirtisment done on publishers content is shared between Google & the Adsense publisher (content owner) in the following ratio :
  1. For – Adsense for content – 68% of the revenue goes to publisher(content owner) & 32% of revenue goes to google. This is because , the content over which the ads is shown by google is owned by publishers. for example – websites, wordpress blogs , web applications.
  2. For – Adsense for hosted content – 60% of the revenue goes to publisher & 40 % to google , because the content is hosted on googles property like – youtube , hubpages , blogspot.
  3. For – Adsense for Search – 51% of the revenue goes to publisher & 49% of revenue goes to google.
How Google Adsense works ?
Web Advertisement  is the main source of revenue for google , which is managed by its product known as –  google adwords, In which advertisers from different part of the world sign up with google adwords and pay google to display the advertisement of their products & services across the whole web for any selectedkeyword.
Before the launch of adsense program . Google was only able to show its advertisement in the search results done by the public on tis own home page , or only on its own products. Hence the growth of revenue was limited , Hence Google came up with this program called Adsense in 2003 , through which google expanded its advertisement to others content as well , like others website , blog , web apps etc. Now google was able to collect more revenue from the advertisers , and in return some percentage of revenue is shared to the content publishers . so this is beneficial for both.
How it works – whene a advertiser wish to show his products & services ads on web , He  sign up with google adwords program , In which he mention his keywords . here google adwords display him the Cost (rate) for that keyword on per click basis ,which will be charged to advertiser . Now if any public is browsing some thing on any publisher website about the same topic , which is related to that keyword. Then Google algorithm recognize the scenario and display the ads of that advertiser there . If the public who is browsing the websit if he feels its need he may click on the advertisement. Then the per click charge is taken by the advertiser and this revenue is shared between google & publisher of website (content owner).

 If you are applying for your own website or blog –  Your website or blog must meet the all below mentioned requirements in order to get approved for adsense program
  1. Your website of blog must have minimum 30 pages with quality post (mostly text) , which should be unique , should not be copied from any where , it should be completely created by your own.
  2. Should not contains topics like – porn & hacking . Also their should not be spelling mistakes .
  3. Try to keep your website on a single topic , on which you hav lot of knowledge & could write too much.
  4. Before applying your website should have a minimum of 500 viewers per day via search engine.
  5. Your website should not contains too much videos & images , because google hates websites which contains more photos & videos . google loves those websites which contains quality & unique text .
  6. Your website should be not in under construction mode , it should be completely finished at the time of applying for adsense.
  7. Your website should contains tabs like – about us , contact us & term of use or privacy policy.
                              If your website or blog meets the above all requirements , then create / sign up for agoogle adsense account . your account will be definitely approved .
How to Sign up for google adsense ?
Step 1 – If you have a existing google / gmail account you can use the same id for adsense or if you wish create a new google / gmail account.
Step 2 – open – http://www.google.com/adsense/start/   in your browser and click on – Get started now. And proceed with your google account sign in , Here key in your existing / newly created gmail / google account user name & password.
Step 3 – Enter your website name carefully in the space provided & select your language.
Step 4 – Now continue to next page , where you need to fill  – PAYEE NAME & address.
Note – payee name can not be changed in future , hence fill it very carefully , & fill the complete address  and submit your application for approval.
Step 5 – Within 48 hours you will get a confirmation email saying that whether your submittion was approved or not approved . if  not approved , they will mention the reason mentioning why it was not approved . once you correct those errors & issue , apply again for approval.
Step 6 -If you get approved , then they will ask you to create a advertisement unit , once you create a ad unit , they will generate a code for that advertisement & you need to paste it in your website. After pasting that code in your website web page , blank ads start showing on your website. They ask to paste the code in your website just to confirm that you are the owner of website or not.
Step 7 –Now within next 48 hour , you will get a confirmation from adsense team that your adsense account is fully approved  .
Step 8 – Now you can create various ads unit and paste in your website , you will see ads live on your website.
NOTE – you can use the same ads unit code to various websites you own , you need not to apply for each website separately . Because this is also against the term of adsense. Since a  adsense publisher should not have more than 1 adsense account.
What is Adsense for search ?
Suppose if you get approved by adsense for content ( for your website or blog ) then you are also eligible for adsense for search . In order to get ads on your website or blog by adsense for search , just you need to get the code from google custom search & paste in your website home page . which will create a search box in your website ,  which can only search the content within your website only . but whenever a visitor search in custom search box ( powered by google) , google will display some advertisement above the search results. If the visitor clicks on that type of ads , thene the publisher share is 51 % of revenue & google share is 49% of the amount received per click by advertiser.
What is hosted adsense for content ?
Simply  here “hosted” term means your content is being hosted on google’s  hosting space  or property. You had not paid any fee for hosting your content. This type of adsense applies to youtube adsense , blogspot adsense & hubpages adsense. In all these cases publisher publish their content on google’s hosting space . Hence in these all case revenue share for publisher is 60% & google is 40% , which is less than adsense for content.
NOTE – If you are approved for adsense for content ( website or blog ) , Then still you need to apply for youtube channel separately , also for blogger & hubpages you need to approval separately.
Do people live their earnings on adsense for fulltime ? What are the drawback of adsense ?
Yes , off course . various people makes millions by only adsense , even many big companies pay their employees by adsense earnings. But it is quite risky , if you are new to adsense  & if you completely depends upon adsense earnings. No doubt , you can earn lot of money from adsense because it is the highest paying cost per click program . But if your adsense account get disabled , then you will never be able to get adsense on your own name & for the same website.
What is the biggest benefit of google adsense program ?
